5 Family-Friendly Winter Activities

Family Fun in the Snow

Just because it gets a little chilly out doesn't mean that the fun is over! Bring the whole family and participate in some of our favorite events and activities this winter. You won't want to miss our five favorite family-friendly winter activities in Rock Springs and Green River, Wyoming.

1. Cross-Country Ski or Snowshoe

Depending on conditions, the whole family can cross-country ski or snowshoe in Sweetwater County all winter long. After a good snowstorm, any local trail and even area parks in Green River and Rock Springs are great places to explore on skis or snowshoes.

Have an animal-lover in the family? Visit the Flaming Gorge Resort for abundant, well-maintained cross-country ski trails, and keep your eyes open for some intimate views of winter wildlife. From the herds of wintering elk to solitary Bull Moose, large mammals are common companions along the snowy trail.

The most popular area to explore is the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area to the south. With more than 200 miles of ski and snowshoe trails, Flaming Gorge County transforms into a winter wonderland when the snow falls.
