Don't Miss the 'Event of the Summer'

The smell of fresh funnel cakes, sounds of local entertainment and fireworks that light up the night sky envelop your senses at one of the most anticipated events of the summer. Wyoming’s Big Show, also known as The Sweetwater County Fair, attracts crowds of all ages from across the region. For first-timers or loyal attendees, follow our guide for where to stay and what to do to make the most out of your Big Show experience.

Wyoming’s Big Show takes place at the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs from July 27 - August 4, 2024! Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discounted rate or onsite. 

Daily Entertainment

The Big Show has daily events that repeat each day of the fair. From local music to interactive fun at the petting zoo, there’s something new to experience each day. Daily entertainment includes 4-H & FFA events,  Brown’s Amusements carnival, and more!

Arriving Early or Staying Late

While Wyoming’s Big Show is one of the top events of the summer, there are a variety of other things to do in Rock Springs and Green River. If you’re arriving early, consider attending the Red Desert Roundup Rodeo which also takes place at the Sweetwater Events Complex the weekend before, July 26 - 27, 2024.

Visitors staying after the end of the Big Show can attend the Green River Farmers Market in downtown Green River on August 7th and more summer events in Southwest Wyoming.

Where to Stay

From retro motels to scenic campgrounds, there are plenty of places to stay in Rock Springs and Green River while attending the Big Show. If you want to stay close to the Sweetwater Events Complex and the excitement of the Big Show, book a room in Rock Springs.

Or if you prefer less crowds during this busy week, stay in Green River. For those interested in other adventures such as mountain biking or kayaking, it is located near the Wilkins Peak Trail System and Expedition Island.

If you’re traveling in an RV or prefer to camp, there are plenty of nearby campgrounds in Rocks Springs and Green River. Reserve a site at the Rock Springs KOA or the Travel Camp for a full set of amenities including electric hookups, restrooms, laundry, and more.

Where to Eat & Drink

When in Rock Spring and Green River, you won’t want to miss out on the dozens of local dining and nightlife options. Visit cafes such as Coal Train Coffee Depot or grab a sweet treat at Cowboy Donuts before heading to the Big Show. And continue the fun afterward at our nightclubs and bars!
