ROCK SPRINGS, WY – In celebration of the United States’ Semiquincentennial Sweetwater County Travel & Tourism is proud to announce the launch of the new Sweetwater Historic Scavenger Hunt App. This interactive experience invites locals and visitors alike to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary by exploring the stories, places, and people that helped shape the rugged landscape of Sweetwater County.

“Whether you’re a history buff chasing the past or a family looking for a new way to explore our beautiful backyard, this scavenger hunt is your guide to discovering why Sweetwater County has so much to explore,” said Jenissa Meredith, CEO of Sweetwater County Travel & Tourism.

The Sweetwater Historic Scavenger Hunt App serves as a digital guide to the hidden gems and legendary history found across the county’s wide-open spaces. With each check-in location, participants will unlock fun challenges, learn fascinating facts, and explore the surrounding communities that make the region unique.

From the grit of coal mining history and the wild tales of outlaws and frontier legends to landmarks that played a pivotal role in building the American West, Sweetwater County is packed with adventure, heritage, and unforgettable experiences.

The hunt is designed for ultimate flexibility: participants can start and finish anywhere. Whether beginning your journey in Green River or Rock Springs, the app guides you through 14 significant historical locations. Those who complete all 14 stops are invited to visit the Sweetwater County Travel & Tourism office at 1641 Elk Street to claim a commemorative prize – a free t-shirt celebrating their journey through history.
