What would you do if you had three full days in a Western paradise? In the case of Sweetwater County, the natural answer is a mix of outdoor adventure, scenic drives, historic tours and more outdoor adventure. This three day itinerary hits all the highlights.

Flaming Gorge On Day 1

• Start the day with a tasty breakfast at Get Real Coffee in Green River.
• Drive the western part of the Flaming Gorge Scenic Byway. 
• Visit the Red Canyon Visitor Center.
• Eat a delicious lunch at the Flaming Gorge Resort.

Afternoon to the Evening

• Spend time at Red Canyon Lodge horseback riding, paddle boating and fishing.
• Take a tour of the Flaming Gorge Dam. 
• Drive the eastern part of the Flaming Gorge Scenic Byway north toward Rock Springs.
• Talk about the day over dinner at Santa Fe Southwest Grill before getting some shut-eye. 

Day 2: Scenic Loop & Wild Horses

• Take your pick of breakfast in Rock Springs. 
• Drive the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Loop in a high-clearance, four-wheel-drive vehicle. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars.
• End your scenic drive in Green River, and grab lunch at Don Pedro’s Mexican Restaurant.  
• Visit the Sweetwater County Historical Museum to learn about the history and culture of Southwest Wyoming.

Afternoon to evening

• Head to Green River to explore Expedition Island. Rent a tube, kayak or raft from White Mountain Lumber.
• Grab dinner at the Fish Bowl and get some sleep at your hotel in Green River.
